Confirmation Day
This Sunday we will observe the Rite of Confirmation with three of our young members making their public confession of the faith and confirming their desire to remain faithful to our Lord Jesus. Please keep them in your prayers, asking that the Holy Spirit would continue to guide and lead them in all truth and equip them to do great things for our Lord in His service.
There are various reasons why Palm Sunday has historically been a time to celebrate Confirmation, but perhaps none better than it being the start of Holy Week which started out with a huge celebration as Jesus went into Jerusalem and ended with the cross. But for those who did not abandon the faith and held on to Jesus, they were not disappointed. Just as Jesus said would happen so it did. He rose victorious. He is the Resurrection and the Life.
Yet despite the wonder of Easter, other things in the world call for our attention and can easily lead us away from Him. Like Judas who used a sweet kiss to betray Jesus in Gethsemane, so can we have plenty of sweet words of worship and praise but, in truth, our hearts belong somewhere else.
May the Holy Spirit use this time of Holy Week and the joy of Easter to work in us anew the joy of the Lord's salvation that we prove to be good and faithful servants, perhaps thinking back to our Confirmation Day and rededicating ourselves to a wondrous, loving God who is always faithful to us.
