I Love to tell His Story
Last weekend our Gospel reading came from the book of Matthew, moments after the culmination of the feeding of the 5,000. Jesus told his disciples to get into the boat and go ahead of Him on the other side. In just a few hours everything totally changed from awe of a miraculous gathering, to fear and panic due to a huge storm. The disciples felt alone, stuck and terrified for their lives as they weathered the storm in the boat, without their Jesus onboard. Have you ever felt like this? Of course, we all have had moments where we feel the highest of highs and a change to what we feel is the lowest of lows. What the disciples failed to remember, which is a great reminder to us all-- though Jesus was not a passenger on the boat that night as the storm rocked every last inch of the ship, Jesus was, and is, in control. Jesus was and is with us, and Jesus reminded them of His great power and might, even when questioned and doubted by Peter. “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” He said. Peter did, until he looked away from Jesus, Peter walked on the water. Until Peter looked away from Jesus, Peter found peace, and a calm that surpasses all understanding.
This school year we will focus on keeping our eyes on Jesus, not looking away to the ways of this world, boldly walking forward in faith, and proclaiming HIS name. Our theme for the year is “I Love to tell His Story” can you hear the song? I Love to tell the story; ‘twill be my theme in glory to tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love. We focus in on Psalm 105:1 and begin with praise and thanksgiving Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Every school year begins with a bit of trepidation. New students are worried they won’t know anyone here. All student’s wonder if the next grade higher is scary or too hard. Teachers pine away at preparations ahead of the year to get their classrooms and their content just right for the students who will walk in their classrooms on August 24th. In the midst of our earthly struggles, in our sinful world—we praise and give thanks and step out in Faith. For some of our students they will learn many new things about their Savior Jesus this year, and develop a closer relationship with Him. For some of our students they will for the first time learn that they have a Savior and begin their relationship with our Savior. In all things, we will focus on living daily in His grace, and not keeping it to ourselves—but telling HIS story to invite people to know Jesus, and provide opportunities to grow in His love.
Thank you for your unwavering support of our children, providing a life changing opportunity through daily Christian education here at Beautiful Savior. Please join us in telling His Story to our community who needs to know their Savior.
