“Be still and know that I am God.” That’s what we read towards the end of Psalm 46 (v. 10, to be exact),  a psalm which describes the earth giving way, the mountains falling into the heart of the sea, waters roaring and foaming, and the mountains quaking with their surging.

As the Coronavirus continues to spread and drastic measures are implemented, life, as we have become accustomed to, has changed rapidly. Even when it comes to church. No more shaking hands. No more passing the offering plate. Only individual cups. An imposed limit of under 50 people. Listening to the service online. No Wednesday evening meals before Lenten worship. And what of Holy Week and Easter? Even life on the church pasture is not always easy.

While there are many different opinions regarding the current situation and how it is being handled, there is one Voice worth listening to above all others. As I mentioned in the March 15 sermon, Don’t let the voice of the world have more time than the voice of God. Make sure that you are spending time listening to the Word of God and in prayer.

As we continue to go through this challenging time, remember that we go through it together, not only as brothers and sisters in Christ, but with Jesus as our Good Shepherd and we His sheep following Him on the pasture. He who navigated the way to the cross of Good Friday and the empty tomb of Easter Sunday knows how to lead us along this challenging path. Be still and know that He is God!
