The Gift of a Christian Mom
I recently asked Google to answer the question: What's the best thing about being a Mom? The answer began this way: "The best part of being a mom is experiencing unconditional love, watching children grow and learn, and witnessing their joy and milestones."
This weekend, we'll hear about Paul preaching in Athens, and Peter encouraging us to "always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." Quite honestly, sharing the faith can seem intimidating, but the fact is, we naturally share it each day as we live out the love of Christ in our various callings in life.
For instance, Christian Moms who live in the love of Jesus naturally share that love with their children. When they celebrate their children as they accomplish things and mature into adults, and when they commiserate with their children when life is hard, they are reflecting our Lord's love for us, for He does those things with us, His children.
But while we often hear that actions speak louder than words, words are needed -- words that explain that the reason for sharing this unconditional love is because we have freely received it from a God who loved us so much that He sent His Son Jesus who died and rose for us so we can live with Him forever. He'll never get tired of us.
And then, of course, we not only talk about that, but let God talk for Himself as we spend time reading and learning the Scriptures not just individually but together as a family.
What a great gift to have a Christian Mom who reflects Jesus. And what a great God who has designed the family structure so that when people follow His design they can live that love and pass it along from generation to generation.
