The wonder of the Holy Trinity

n Friday, May 29, we will celebrate 8th Grade Graduation. We wish our graduates well and pray that the theme verse they chose continues to serve them as a guide throughout life: "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans." (Proverbs 16:3)

The first 8th Grade Graduation in our school ministry's history happened in 2007, with that class starting Kindergarten back in 1998. What that means is we have had the privilege of fulfilling our mission to invite people to know Jesus and providing opportunities to grow in His love by supporting wonderfully gifted and loving teachers who teach God's Word and lead by example with the Holy Spirit working through that Word to plant the seeds of faith and grow and nurture it. While we might not always see the results as some come while others go, God's Word never returns to Him empty (Isaiah 55:11). Over the years, countless chapel services have begun "in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." Baptismal birthdays have been celebrated, and even some students baptized in the name of our Triune God.

This weekend, our worship services will celebrate the wonder of the Holy Trinity. Trying to fully comprehend the wonder of three distinct Persons yet one Godhead is beyond human reason. Referring again to Isaiah 55, "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:9) And, in fact, when some try to make God "reasonable," they end up moving away from what the Scriptures reveal.

Worship involves humbly coming before God in wonder and awe, thanking Him that in His greatness the very Son of God humbled Himself and took on flesh and blood that through faith in Him worked by the Holy Spirit we might live with him in a loving relationship now and forever. Indeed, all glory, honor, praise and thanksgiving be to Father, Son, and Holy Spirit now and forever. And all God's people say, "Amen!"
