To know the wonder of walking with Him
Have you ever heard stories of people who are not particularly religious calling out to God in desperation, “God, if You’re there, help!” If only they would not have waited until the last possible moment to reach out to God. If only they had known the wonder of being in a loving, living personal relationship with our Lord so that when the trials and challenges of life come, they instinctively come to our Lord in prayer, knowing that where they go our Lord is right there with them.
That sounds great, but how does one cultivate that sort of loving, living personal relationship with our Lord? For the next several weeks, we’ll use the theme “Lord, Teach Us…” and explore various aspects of how to live life as our Lord created us to live. After all, Jesus, being true man besides true God, gives us the perfect example of how to live as a human. This weekend, we’ll begin with Jesus teaching us about prayer. The following weeks will focus on how to be less obsessed with material things, how not to worry, how to have wisdom in forming and maintaining relationships, and humility.
What a gracious God who doesn’t want us to find ourselves in a desperate situation before we call out to Him, but to know the wonder of walking with Him through this life. And as Jesus says, “So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him.” Luke 11:13 (NLT)
